After NDTV India, the Government has also ordered that an Assam-based news channel be taken off air for a day, following the recommendations of a high-level panel which felt it had “violated” programming guidelines on more than one occasion. An I&B ministry order dated November 2, has sought that the channel ‘News Time Assam’, be taken off air on November 9, for a day. One of the allegations against the channel relates to telecasting a programme which revealed the identity of a minor who had been brutally tortured while working as a domestic servant. Observing that the visuals telecast by the channel appeared to compromise the privacy and dignity of the child while also exposing him to harm and stigma, a showcause notice was issued to the channel in October 2013. Having listened to the channel’s version, the Inter Ministerial Committee which looked into the matter felt that the channel may be taken off air for a day. The Karbi Youth Festival began in 1974. A few Karbi Youths got together to organize for the first time Diphu cultural festival. Within a few years later it became a major event in Karbi Anglong, and later it became one of the biggest ethnic festival in Northeast India. Soon Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) became much more than annual cultural festival. It became a forum for the Karbi people to rediscover the Karbi Art and Culture from a new perspective. Three years after the first festival was organized the KARBI CULTURAL SOCIETY took its birth on January 30, 1977. Pakistan's two parliamentary committees in rare joint resolution asked India to immediately suspend work on two hydropower projects in Jammu and Kashmir and agree on the constitution of an arbitration court to resolve the water dispute. National Assembly's Committee on Foreign Affairs and Water and Power held a joint sitting in Islamabad yesterday to discuss water issues with India. A joint resolution unanimously adopted in the meeting asked India to halt the construction work, Dawn reported. The resolution also called upon the World Bank to constitute a court of arbitration to adjudicate on issues raised by Pakistan against India's ongoing construction of Kishanganga and Ratle hydro projects. It said that under the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), it is the responsibility of the World Bank to play its role without further delay. Over one lakh sixteen thousand unemployed youths would be imparted training under national skill development mission in Tripura for next three year.
