2016 has almost come to an end and the state of Uttar Pradesh is now eagerly awaiting the upcoming elections in the New Year. Amidst all the family drama that surrounded the governing Samajwadi Party in the state, the fate of UP is yet to be known.
While the family has been involved in their own tiffs, UP has witnessed varying levels of chaos over the years. And PM Narendra Modi’s comments on the state’s Goondaism level proved to be on point. Right from stating that people of UP are tired of the prevailing goondaism to targeting their corruption levels, Modi’s speech in Kanpur highlighted UP’s troubles all the more.
And amidst the various cases of goondaism that has been reported in the state so far, it is often the women who seem to be the primary victims. Right from being groped by thugs in public to be being beaten black and blue for no fault, UP women seem to have faced it all.

Thugs groped a married lady after her husband and she where asking directions from strangers. Resisting the assault, her husband intervened, and that’s when the thugs decided to beat the couple up. Even before the cops could reach the spot, the thugs had made a run.

A family in Jalaun witnessed the death of two young girls. The family took to the streets to protest against the same. The procession was soon cut short by police officials who took to beating the women on the streets.

A maid working in a professor’s household was beaten up vigorously with belts and rods after she was accused of stealing. Not just the maid, but her little child was beaten up by the family members and street thugs as well.

A girl was beaten up by street thugs for PDA. The girl however revealed that she was with her friend in a room when the thugs entered forcefully and beat her up. She also accused them of trying to rape and kill her.

A dalit family in Noida undertook a naked parade to raise their voice against injustice. According to the family, their property was illegally snatched by their village members. The family did file an FIR against the thugs, but the police failed to take any said action against them, following which the family resorted to taking such a step.

A small tiff that took place between a lady and a bank employee resulted in the woman being violently beaten up by the cops. She was also dragged on the streets before stuffing her inside the police van.

The bold move of the young girl to stop gambling sessions taking place in her area for over 40 years resulted in her family being beaten up by the same gambling street thugs. The thugs not just forcefully entered her house, but also beat up her mother.
